Christmas is seen by many in America as the biggest family holiday of the year. St. Bede aspires to have its community get into the holiday spirit in several different ways.

First, each grade level decorates its own Christmas Tree. All students in the grade-level are able to contribute to the decorations. Not only can they garnish the trees with traditional decorations, but they are also encouraged to hang winter materials like socks, gloves, and hats that will be donated to the local homeless shelter.

Another activity is a “cookie-giveaway” during class periods leading up to Christmas. One of the teachers who lives on campus is a fantastic baker, and he prepares hundreds of cookies that he passes out to students and staff. While visiting classes, he dresses up as “St. Nick” (who Santa Claus is based on) and shares his holiday spirit with laughter and smiles.

No Christmas Season would be complete without holiday decorations and dressing up in themed clothing. Many teachers and office staff delight in putting their own personal touches on their workspaces. This includes hallways, offices, and classrooms, plus boarding students helped to decorate some common areas in the dorms!

All of this together helps to build the sense of spirit throughout the school at the end of the semester, letting each student and faculty know that they are part of the St. Bede family. Merry Christmas!
